What are the health risks of my use of smokeless tabacco every so often?

I dip about once every other day, if not once every 3 days. What are the health risk if I rotate where I put the lip in my mouth along with the amount I use it. Seeing that most frequent users dip 2-3 times a day, I feel that the health risks associated with them don't complelely apply to my use.

I believe it says right on the package that you are risking getting cancer.

Sorry, what's smokeless tobacco? Chewing tobacco or something?

Mouth cancer and lip cancer, which are both very attractive, btw.

But why would your first post on a home recording board being about tabacco?

HILARIOUS! First JordanD and now this. I'll try to relate it to microphones: I recommend long cut as fine cut is more likely to pass through the grill and end up stuck to the diaphragm when you sing.

Make sure to use a pop filter so you don't get spit on the diaphragm. It turns it brown.

I was about to say, most likely you're going to end up with foul-smelling microphones. This will mostly be an issue if you share mics with other musicians.

first, your spelling will suffer, soon, all your female relatives begin to look attractive, and before you know it your sayin' things like "git 'er done" or " whose yer daddy?"

oh no!!!! Im going to get mouth cancer????!!!????

:D:D:D

That said, I dipped for a long time (military)..quit when my daughter was a baby..much harder than quitting smoking. It certainly ain't doing anything *good* for your health, that's for sure.

Your going to be fine, seriously. Just look for signs around the areas you put your chew. Once skin starts peeling or becoming white, quit for a while. Not everyone gets their jaw removed... I have a friend who just got a growth removed and he only has a whole in his lip, but he chewed about a can and a half a day for 6 years. He chews with his top lip now.

he only has a whole in his lip

Err, perhaps ONLY is an understatement? And so when his top lip falls off, then what? I mean, that is likely 6 or so years away based on previous experience, so he had better get thinking.

There ya go. The best advice I've ever read on any subject ....EVA!!! Who needs whole lips when you can trade 'em in for the joy of brown teeth and a big wad of nasty shit in your mouth?

I'd bet money that if they did a study, they'd find that it's healthier to suck on a horse's ass than to chew tobacco. It might even taste better. Look see...

ha yeah it is an understatement...it was my attempt at sarcasm. I was trying to say that I think a little chewing here and there is going to be fine, but there are major health risks to chronic users.

So what'd'ya think is healthier, the tobaccy or the horse's ass? :D

WHY THE HELL IS THIS IN THE MIC FORUM AND WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP POSTING IN IT?

Probably the tobacco since I would imaging there is a pretty high chance of catching e-coli or the like sucking on horse ass.

As a critical thinker I have to look at the pro's and cons of every situation.
Horse ass - cons - Exposed and susceptible to open air bacteria, exposed and susceptible to male horse genitalia and the aftermath of male horse arousal and feces, all of which may not be the most pleasant things to have in or around a human mouth. Also, being behind horse legs and munching on its No-No's may not be the brightest idea. - pros - A chance to transcend and engage ones wild side.
"tabacky" - cons - cancer, Only kissing mother country manic carnies and at that your better off putting a bleach blonde wig on top of a crumpled up vons bag, a possible lifelong addiction - pros - They could have your favorite flavor...
The evidence presents itself accusingly, of course both are horrible habbits. One not a safe alternative to the other...
I have to ask, How do you feel about smoking?:p
