Wharfedale Diamond 8.1....Bookshelf Speakers?

Found Wharfedale Diamond 8.1s advertised at a considerable amount less than can be found on specialist recording sites, but they're labelled as 'bookshelf speakers'.

Strongly suspect this, combined with the lower price, means they're passive versions or specific for hi-fi not monitoring, but the pics look identical. Wondered if anyone could confirm my suspicions.

I'm pretty sure that they are not identical. For one thing, the woofers in the bookshelf systems are yellow kevlar, and the woofers in the monitors are black. (May or may not mean anything, though.) Also, it's two different divisions of Wharfedale that market the things, although I don't know if that's significant either.

I seem to recall this subject having been discussed on these forums before - a search will probably turn up some info for you.

For the record it seems they're very similar spec but without an amp and unshielded.
