warmer sounding tubes

Well, I went the mod route and it worked perfectly. Seems the 800 series is known for it's 'brightness' i.e. tinnyness so I had a capacitor removed and lowered a resisitor (can't remember which one) from 470 to 68 and VIOLA! An entirely new sound that I was looking for. A much fuller warmer tone without the harsh treble.

Finally I can rock and not fiddle with settings!

I'm a Lynch fan and I had to be the first to say it.Tooth & Nail was recorded with a RG(Solid State) Series Randall,I.E. RG120?I used to own one and for having NO TUBES it sure sounded like it DID.As far as what your talkin for tubes,6550's give you a fuller sound than an EL34 which gives you more midrange and less bottom....I prefer the Bottom and the Punch of 6l6's.(Sylvania's are nice if you can find them)...6l6's & 6550's stay cleaner at higher volumes than an EL34's.
