My GAS acted up again and when I came to, I had ordered an Epiphone Wildkat with the Bigsby Tremolo. Rave reviews all around but one problem mentioned was string breakage when wanking agressively on the wammy bar.

Would some kind of grease be effective in place of a roller bridge?

What kind of grease/oil do you use?

Anybody know where you can find a direct replacement roller bridge? I heard the bridge is not standard Gibson width.

Is the spring tension adjustable on Bisgbys?

Thanks for you help!

Powdered graphite will work for lube. If you have problems with string breakage at the bridge, have a tech check it out. The bridge saddles might need to be cleaned up. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a setup done on your new guitar, anyway.

I saw some lube type thing called Nut Sauce (I think) in a guitar mag recently that from memory was supposed to reduce string breakage. Don't recall much about it, never used it myself, ain't endorsing it.

Could be worth googling though.

Cheers
