Does anyone know why I am getting a delay when pressing the "Live" button while recording?

I'm trying to hear my guitar while listening to the other recorded tracks, but I hear the notes I am playing about 1-2 seconds later.

Any help would be appreciated!

Are you pressing the live buton after the record button or before? What build are you on?

Hey Dougie.

You need a low latency soundcard. What card are you using? Using ASIO drivers for my Delta44 allows me to use the Live feature with about 20-30ms of delay...but even that is noticable when playing live. Great for mixing though.

I tried that live feature once and the delay was quite noticeable! Here's how I deal with overdubbing -
I have a Delta 44 and a Yamaha MD4S which I use for the mixer (I used to use it for multitracking before I switched to the PC). I input whatever I'm recording into Inputs 1 and 2 of the Delta. In N-Track, these inputs are enabled for recording. I then have outputs 1/2 sent into an Aux input on the Yamaha. N-Track is set up to send the stereo master buss to these outputs. Hence I can listen to the mix of what's already been recorded by using the Aux input on the Yamaha (where my headphones are plugged into).
Now to listen to the new parts as I'm overdubbing, I plug the Delta 3/4 outputs into 2 channel strips in the Yamaha. I then use the Delta's control panel to send Input 1/2 directly to Output 3/4. So when I monitor the new parts, I just use the channel strips. I also have my Nanoverb plugged into the other aux input so I can send a bit of reverb to the monitor mix when recording vocals or other acoustic parts.
I don't know what soundcard you have, but you should be able to do something like this if you have a mixer and a multi-output soundcard (and everyone wonders why you need more than just a stereo output!)

Good luck!

I used the live feature and it crashed the program!

Thanks to all for your input.
I'll give it a shot!
