using midi with guitar amp

i have a V amp by behringer and i was wondering if a guitar cant handle midi (without special equipment) what is the sense of the midi ports in this unit, what can the unit do with midi for receiving and sending

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a communications protocol. It doesn't actually contain any sounds. With the V-Amp, MIDI can be used to change patches and parameters.

The midi ports can be used for sending patches between the vamp and the computer. Go to http://www.behringer.com/05_support/tonelibrary.cfm to get the software. There are also patches created by vamp users available for download. I think that you can also submit your own patches too.
