Alan's suggestion seems right for you. I mean, th V77 sounds like a wonderfull mic, and I have yet to hear a bad word about it, but tube mics just don't work for all types of voices/instruments. If you are buying a "general purpose" LD condenser, a tube mic may not be what you're looking for. The C1 is more of a "genral purpose mic", and if you want the tube sound, the idea of getting it from the pre sounds great to me. I say go for it!
