Hey folks,

I want to thank everyone that threw in some help when I put up the basic tracks for this song . The tips are very appreciated. Once again, Lt. Bob was kind enough to cough up a great sax ride for this. Thanks in advance for listening.

I just listened to it from the front page of Nowhereradio and man it is awsome! The Lt. laid down some sweet sax!I love the whole thing.Vox are great..love the backing vocal stuff...very cool...this is a great tune man.

Nice mix man!.............I like the way you've got the sax sounding. :) I especially like the touch of chorus.

You cut between the different sax tracks didn't you? It's very smooth. I don't really hear the transition. If I hadn't done them.....I wouldn't know it's a combination of parts of several takes.

I especially like your vocals on this song.....the way the different parts play off each other....very cool....that's the thing that first struck me about the song.

I think Guernica's written a fine song here and his performance is first rate. It was a pleasure to get to work on something of this caliber...and easy to, thank you man....:)

First things first, are you using auto-tune? this is a damn fine piece here.. I am blown away by this one gentlemen.. I'm not gay or anything, but either of you guys could have had me after this one! :D I could picture a girl saying, "the song started playing and my clothes fell off!" :D

Seriously though, great tune here.. The sax has a lot of class to it, and the vocals could possibly get me laid in the future.. :D

I have no mix suggestions.. This song came out near perfect..

Anything I don't like is strictly preference I'm sure..

Let's hear the details about this fine collaboration.. Which auto-tune model are you using?

Kudos To All

Perfect Everything. Seriously. Love it. Downloading for looooong car trip.

Be proud of this.
:D
-chris, not Jamal.

Very cool gentlemen......very cool indeed.....
I am keepin' this one too....
Good job all around...especially liked where the Harmony and kick came in.....just awesome....

...Man, you ought to have a HAPPY home for a long time with this one!:D ... Nice song. The sax by the great Lt. Bob, makes the tune ultra glossy... A fine spatial mix. The acoustic guitar sounds sweet; direct out, and your Rode at about the 12th fret, or did you use the 'over the shoulder' soundboard placement? Nice representation... The vocals are nicely done, man. 'Just when you're too weak to take another step...' - perfect delivery; a stand-out nuance... Do tell how that little oscillating, arpeggiating melodic bed was achieved around 3:20 or so; sounds sweet under there! J-station patch? All in all, man, stellar. A definite candle burner. Re-laaax, baaaby!:D

Great sound. Vintage like.

Really nice sax playing, did you play for Supertramp Bob?

The song is full of interesting transitions.

Pink Floyd meets Supertramp and Queensryche meets the Who!

Very Cool stuff!

Fantastic!!!

I really enjoyed the Kiss cover you guys did, so it is about time you teamed up again. As always the fine Lt's sax playing is right on the money. The song is great, I love the vocal sound and those b/g vocals are great too. Nice heavy bass sound without muddiness!! This is top notch stuff. I cant discribe it...The song is "heavy" I dont know I could hear Metallica covering this because it has a heavy feel to it, but then again I could hear someone like Rod Stewart doing it as well.

Sweet Sax too...
I would love to hear the Lt do a version of Harlem Nocturne...is that how you spell it???

Yep...that's how it's spelled. Lots of people just call it the Mike Hammer theme. There are actually words to it too. I play the song so when I get back from vacation I might fool around with it some...that is after I catch up on all the collaborations I've got going.

if you need any guitar help I would love to give it a try

sounds great guernica...........it's perfect as is, but if it were me, i'd kick the vocal up just the slightest bit, but they really sound fine as is................good work

Hey guys,

-much thanks for the kind words man.... Im looking forward to your next one.

-aaahhhhhhh, master Obi Won.... I have fooled you. There is no chorus on the sax in this. I was inspired to do some deep studying on reverb by a post that Sluice put up, and realized that I have a bunch of verb options that i didnt even know i had. The only things on the sax are verb and a very slight compression. The talent however lies in the execution. ........And there is a buttload of talent in the house of Bob! After Parasite, I was expecting something great when your CD came in the mail...... .....and obviously, I was thrilled and once again, very impressed. Your performance on this took the song to a place where it couldnt have gone otherwise. Thanks for the nice words regarding the song,......the sax of Lt. Bob is always welcomed in my home. .......you the man!!!!

B.Sabbath
-Hey Sam, ....Autotune??? BAH!!!! ....not that i have anything against it.... ..but no, Just blood, sweat, ......and re-takes:D :D LMAO at your comments. ........what ever it takes man.... I tried talking my wife into a little w/ "Hole Situation", but she wasnt having it:D If anybody out there hasnt given that tune a serious listen, I suggest that they do. .......great stuff from Samicide.
Re: the collaboration...... The mad Lt. downloaded my rough tracks, laid down his magic, and sent me back a CD with the goods........ He was kind enough to provide 3 full rides through the song. Of those I cut and spliced to fit the vocs...... ......an easy task really, the work was already done. I should have something for our "thang" ready for you this week. .....I'll PM ya.
Thanks for the nice words bro.

ChrisHarris
-Thanks alot Chris (not Jamal):D Im glad that you dug it. ........seems all i listen to anymore is stuff from this site. .......makes drivng tolerable, and in LA, youve gotta do anything that you can.

-Thanks for the kind words, they are very appreciated.

-My brotha :D ........ Thanks a million man. I totally agree w/ the "glossy" factor that you mentioned. I have a totally new appreciation for horns. Yup, the Ac. guit mic (Nt1000) was at around the 12th fret (ish)...... .....being a bass player, that was my first time micing up an acoustic guit w/ a condenser, and I learned alot..... ......god damn garbage men come by at the worst times of the day!!! I went with your suggestion regarding the decay on the cymbals, and it helped alot. Thanks for the kind words man........ Im looking forward to the professional debut of the "real" studio. Keep me informed.

-thanks a bunch Emeric, Pink Floyd (ish) was what i was aiming for. Its funny how you might start a song w/ a certain intent..... then it just has a way of driving itself ......wherever. Thanks for the nice words, and let me know if you ever need any tracks....... .......I might hit you up one of these days. :D

King Elvis
Hey man, Thanks for the nice words. A metallica version, eh? Now I would love to hear that. Thanks alot.

Powderfinger
-Vocals that low can really be a bitch. I did alot of scooping and mid-work to get them to sit without conflicting w/ the bass and acoustic guitars. .....you might be right regarding their levels........ ........it was a tough call. Thanks man.

Frankly I am somewhat speechless.
This is unique and different from what I was expecting while it was spooling.
The only other bit of work I heard from you was the collab with emeric and theron (I think) and I was expecting something else.
Man.........this is smoooooth and almost haunting.
The only thing I can say about the mix is I hope my shit can sound this good some day!

And this is my first chance to hear the Lt. on the sax.
The man has style !

This is really something!
Thanks for sharing!!

Wow this is excellent-nice guitar sound...nice choice of notes in the arpeggios...sounds lush for lack of a better word...vocals sound great-how do you record/process your vox-really great sounding...sax is perfect very tasty. Im hearing a keyboard arpeggio panning side to side before sax solo-nice touch. Mix is good-I hear nothing wrong with this at all! most impressive!

Forgive the comparison, but if this ain't Jakob Dylan meets Sonny Rollins, I'm a pusbrain mullet.
Ok, forget comparisons. This is just beautiful. Listening for the second time now, will soon lose count.
Top grade in every detail.

I just went to play this song for my girlfriend, and then I remembered,

I don't have one.. :(

Wow,really, really nice.Your voice is just great!
Lt Bob,is totally awsome!

Man,those sax licks are just fantastic!
You mixed him in perfectly.
Guitars sound great too.

I'm totally blown away by this, writing, mixing, production,
performance.
I give it a 10+!:D

You said you were doing some deep studying on reverb.
Any tips or links you can share?
I'm doing the same thing, trying to learn how to eq and mix.
Reverb is my next challange!

Great work, and Lt.Bob's sax is like adding whipcream and cherry's to a sunday.
It's already sweet,but man now it's heavenly!:D

Hey Sam,
I don't know if it helps,but everybody loves ya here!:D :D :D
(Not quite the same,is it?)

Best to you,
Pete

I had a listen this afternoon and I am very impressed by the quality of this one. The mix is great. everythings right where it ought to be. The acoustics sound sooo good, man! The whole thing has a real finished and polished sound quality. Excellent.

Of course Lt. Bob added his magic horn to the mix and I am in absolute awe of his taste, musicianship and talent.

But, damn, Guernica! You've raised the bar for us all--at least a couple of notches. This is too good to be a home recording. really!
