Hi there,

I spent the better part of this afternoon trying to update my XT, without success. I am on an iMac OS9, which has its problems owing to the fact that I do not have a USB Midi proggy/interface, so I went over to my father in law's place to use his Windows XP system.

First, we downloaded the USB drivers. Restarted the XP computer, and it showed the new device (PODxt) down at the bottom right hand side. So far, so good.

Then, we tried to load the Line6 Monkey, which we seem to have managed to do, although I couldn't find it on his computer. Nevertheless, the Monkey program seemed to have loaded, and we were prompted to load data into a Bass Pod. We changed the model back to PODxt, and then we received a message saying that it couldn't connect with the device. Now, the USB drivers were working, the POD was recognized by the computer. It is my understanding that, with the Monkey, we can upload the upgrade without a MIDI interface on Windows XP. I don't know how to access what OS the xt is currently running.

Could someone please help walk me through this? I am very happy with my XT, and want to get recording with it asap. I am feeling quite frustrated at the moment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I updated mine recently, so I'll see if I have any input. When you get the LineMonkey fired up, did you look through all the options on it, and update all the software? Seems it had me do that before I could do anything else. It updated the POD, then some other stuff that Line6 uses. You had to reboot a few times, and it tells you to turn off the POD, unplug it, and then do shit in some certain order, or it won't work. There was some software interface that stays on the computer, and you can tune the POD from there. I believe you had to have that to do some certain tasks. Then, when you have it all, you can download some of the other user files. Don't know if this helps, but that's what I remember going through. Good luck, dude.

Thanks for the reply, Dogman,

The issue is, I think, that this is a first iteration xt, which will require me to load the upgrade via MIDI. That is gonna be problematic, as I do not have a PC MIDI program, nor a PC MIDI interface. I don't know if my Mac serial interface will work on my father in law's PC.

In any case, it is gonna be a freaking hassle.

Screw Line6!
