$200 for a 421 isnt the end of the world. as long as you got one with a clip, and it isnt a new one. they tend to go for less.
although, i think that the going price might be pretty high anyway. you can get a beyer m201 (originally marketed as a competitor) for 139 euros new. just about as good as a mic. or you can get a 441 for another $75 or so. probably worth it...
music go round is a good source for rarer more exotic mics (when they show up). 421 not being a rare or exotic mic. also look at digibid. sometimes things slip by there...
or pawn shops that dont do the music thing. most pawn shops now check ebay prices, but you can still find ones that dont normally do microphones, and cant figure out what the models are... then you can get some good deals. a pawn shop right near my house had a 421 for $50 cause they couldnt figure out what the heck it was. of course, i didnt get to it in time.
but anyway, to make you feel better think of this: if you overpaid by $50 but you got the mic a few months earlier who wins? would you have paid $50 to rent it for 3 months? then you are ok. did you use it on a recording to get an amazing sound that you wouldnt have been able to capture if you waited? then you did fine. if it sit around collecting dust... you probably should have waited.
