hey there again, (skip this first paragraph if you couldnt be bothered reading it!!)

following on from my last post, I decided to get a boss ds-1. I know it may not have been the best solution to many of you, but Im 17 and have almost no money, the boss was very cheap, and when I tried in the store (with a Squire Tele and a smallish Mesa amp) it sounded pretty awesome. Of course once I got home, it didnt sound half as good....but oh well, at least it will one day when I get good gear!

Anyway, my question about the pedal is: When you turn it on with level and tone at 12oclock, and distortion at 0 (ie total anticlckwise) do you still have a fairly distorted tone? And do you find that turning the distortion nob to 0 to 12oc does not dramaticaly increase the distortion, while from 12 to 5oc does dramatically increase distortion?

This just seemed a bit odd, and i just want to check with other that the pedal is working correctly. Thanks

The one nice thing about GC is that you can take things back for 30 days.

I say take it back, get a new one, and if it does the same thing then you are set with a working pedal.

On another note, I try to not play on stuff I don't have. ie, I have a LP and a tele and Fender amps, so I don't test stuff with a strat on a Marshall.
Just some advise.

Edit...

Further more...

Have you looked at eBay since you are tight on cash? You can try pedals out at GC and then pick them up on eBay cheap ya know. Just have to look around and have some patience - to not over bid.
