hey all..

new song im working on.....i recorded it playing guitar and singin live into my workstation...ok well the basic guitar track and vocal are one track...did a coupla vox over dubs......and a few guitar lines here and there....I WILL WARN YOU this is reallly rough....and the "solo" at the end....lol....just really searching around....on the fretboard....but yuo will be able to get the general idea out of this ....my songs are never about how great the "recording" is anyway..so this should fit right in..:D

The intro vox are a tiny bit quiet and th b-up vox comes in a little loud with some beginnings of words kind of muffled or something.
The lyrics are a bit hard to make out in the rough mix but I'm diggin' this one alot. Of course everyone is waiting for the the rocking to begin but I'm glad you let them down on this one, it's nice.

Repost when you're done.
 
Nice sounding acoustic......vox is too low at the beginning.....it gets loud enough when the harmony comes in ......then it gets too soft again.......nice chords and lead vocal line.......I like it a lot......you need to flesh this out and redo it with a full section....drums and everything....this is a cool song>
 
yep, this is good. Going to be "great" when you get it done. Almost has some C/S/N feel to some of it. Liked the b/ups, thought they were killer on this. Get to work:D , i wanna hear this when your finished with it.
 
Very nice-Nice progression-I like the arpeggios(though it got a little jumbled to me when you had 2 going at once-2nd verse)....Good vocals(as usual)----though I couldnt pick up the words too well-but thats the last thing I notice anyway...I could easily imagine this with full rock and roll bombast(I've got my lighter ready). Good song.

This is textbook jamal at its best.
The BG vox do kick in and overpower the main but this can be fixed. The tune itself has the room to do a ton of things in different directions but maybe a little cleanup would be all it needs. Its a tune I could hear a big crunch with a full band in, or just jamal on a stool with his ax and a mic. (maybe a beer at his feet!)

Nothing new to add that hasn't been covered.
Since your words are always a highlight of your tunes, Make sure we can hear them on the redo!! ;)

Yeah, some compressor pump on the guitar in there.... not Kosher for the finished product... but fair warning... Track Rat won't put up with that in the full version :)

Guit playing is hella cool... again, some of your best stuff... the fast arpeggio circle, or whatever you were doing in the outro was balls out... it's a good thing you're now a shaver ;)

The tension between the BGVs and lead vox was awesome.... I like anything that's not just a triad I, III, V... this song builds well...

I'd say you're responding well to the negative criticism and pressure you've received so far in the clinic :D Maybe we should insult you some more in the cave; let that resentment and anger build you up to higher levels of creativity and motivation.

since this is a working "sketch"...eh? ..we'll lay off on the recording stuff. Nice singing and the guitar was nice too. The solo did kinda 'blow'...and the 'compressed' strumming...but, it appears I am just paraphrasing the above posts. oh..I 2nd the elixers..
 
Cool song--absolutely killer title. (no bland comment--I consider the title of a song to be very important). I'd mess with the melody a bit more and get off the tonic note more often--maybe sculpt a few repeating lines.

Dynamic mic on the acoustic? String scrapes didn't affect me--call it art!

I agree with LT Bob--like to hear a full band mix of this one. Keep going.
 
I`m just another regular cat, I`m not a recording wizard at all so I can`t tell you that much, but I look for the imagery in the piece rather than all the little knicks and knacks. you got good picking timing and the message in the piece is heavy. I`d like to hear it after you get it all laid out and mixed like you want it. p.s. I wish I could sing, your good man.
 
ok i posted a fuller version with drums and some electric guitar..still not sold on what i have so far.....but its a few steps further along....i need to redo some vox and guitar..and i faded out the solo cause i sorta lost my place in the middle...a killer guitar player i am not..

Really great stuff...and since your music is soooo different from mine...and soooo much better...I really appreciate your comments even more now. Very nice of you to help me out. And again...your damn good!
