the kitchen or the study?

I do most of my recoding in a room where my PC is. Just a standard room w/ average carpet & walls, average ceiling heigth. I could try something in my kitchen though... pretty big, vinyl floors, higher ceilings too... I like playing my acoustic in there & singing better but not sure how it would effect recording...

FYI, i'm recording my Taylor 314CE & my voice only, seperate tracks of course.

Just my $0.02 worth, but I get better results trying to get a dead sounding environment in the home and then adding reverb, than I've ever got recording in a more "live" room like a kitchen, but YMMV - I hang blankets up in the corner and hide away there.

I find that all my "bread and butter" studio work is best done in the kitchen..........

If recording had to do with which room we sounded best to ourselves then professional studios would be covered with ceramic tile and have urinals on the walls

The kind of reverb that your hard surfaces provide is usually added later in a controled manner rather than made part of the initial recording.

For home recorders who do not have the luxury of building an entirely separate room the best choice is a closet full of clothes, with perhaps a blanket hung on any walls without clothes racks in front of them. That is my arrangement.
