WHO DAT MAKIN THAT NOIZE
I was peepin the forum and saw a lot of energy being directed at kanye so i figured one thread for it would be good.

did any body catch the interview he did on mtv with sway where where he said dame dash is the one who put him on and supported him and encouraged him but he decided to go with jay-z during the split. whats yo take on it?

thats why its called the music business, it can't be so personal all the time.
thats why in the wake of the post rocafella kanye hasn't said anything bad about dame in a negative light.

Sometimes money talks and bullshit walks. But I can understand Kayne going with the cashflow, but keeping negative things about Dame out of his mouth. I mean if Dame put him on and gave him support and encouragement than it's really not wise to bite the hand that fed you. That'd be like Mike Jones comin' out and sayin' "Fuck Swisha House" knowin' damn well that if it wasn't for them, he would have never got to where he's at. Not saying it doesn't happen, I just don't think it's the smartest thing to do.

but here is a point o consideration with his style of beat making be so common now that a little bit of every body is able to do it should he be as arrogant as some have claimed he is or should he actually be more fearful because over half the cats on soundclick can do what he is able to do now. ( ok well maybe not half but a good amount.

caller you are on the air

maby a dick, but he's still one of the best things in rap right now.

I honestly don't think the majors think of the minors. They know that once they've made it, they can use their name and clout to carry themselves (and call anyone else who does the same thing an imitator). Anyway, I think he does get a little arrogant sometimes, but I think it's funny because he obviously doesn't realize how easy it is for anybody to do that.

i really dislike him.
im not a fan of his beats, but i respect the talent it takes to produce like him,
but, i despise his lyrics. he is absolute garbage lyrically.

i'd have to disagree with that...his new album is nowhere near his debut, which in my mind is one of the greatest albums of all time, but it really shows that he's a very talented emcee...hes just got a unique style. i dont see how anyone can hate kanye right now. as far as im concerned he's saving hip-hop at the moment. he's the biggest thing in the game and could do million dollar collaborations with anybody he chooses and yet he's putting people like common and consequence on his album. all i want to know is what the deal is with nas. i couldnt believe that nas would be on a track that's on a rocafella release and especially be talking about how he's a free agent and who's he gonna sign with and all that. if he gets with kanye its game over.

c'mon man.

for insatance...

he made track called "Diamonds from sierra leon" (sp?),
im not sure if your familiar with whats happening down there, but young kids die in those mines trying to get the diamonds that Kanye wears.
When i saw this video pop up on MTV i got excited. i thought "wow, Kanye might make a song about how bad that situation is"....nope.
instead he talks about a fat girl nicknamed 'minivan' and how he forgets batter rhymes than anyone els can even think of.
that song was terrible, and had so much potential.
his rhyming sucks. etc etc...
its a matter of opinion, so i guess its stupid to argue over this. so ill stop talking about Kanyes lyrical ability.

you said hes "saving hip-hop"?!?!

people have been saying hip-hop is dying since it started.
you are aware that underground hip-hop exists right?
there are emcees that are not on MTV, but are more talented than anybody on MTV.
ive heard songs that have more talent (lyrically) in them than Kanye has shown in his carrer.
Kanye aint saving shit but his bank account.

yea sure if you get all caught up in the hollywood bullshit and search around for dirt on the internet you're gonna find stuff about him...he's one of the biggest names out there of course you will. he's allowed to have an opinion just like you or i. when i said he was saving hip-hop that may have been an overstatement but all im saying is would you rather listen to mike jones repeating the same stupid shit over and over again or cash money rapping over the same beats song after song? i know i wouldnt. when his first album dropped i was very relieved to say the least. and as far as the underground goes, ill be the first to admit that the best rappers out there on quote "on the underground" unquote. i never said he was the best emcee in the world. all im saying is at least kanye made his own style, and other than dre, theres noone that can touch his production right now...even the doc said so himself.

oh yea, and that quote from kanye definetly sounded like a joke to me. considering he had at least a dozen "white people" aiding the production on late registration, including john mayer and adam levine from maroon 5, i would say kanye west is hardly a racist.

i like him as an artist, dislike him as a person

so i chose his arrogance outshines his talents, but i like him...i cant deny he is making the best music in mainstream hiphop right now

I have nothing to say..sorry (he sample to much)

The remix with Jigga is about Sierra Leone.

What really upsets me about Kanye is, he bills himself as a "conscious" emcee but, he's nothing like a conscious spitter at all... He's a mainstream product of the industry. He's got multiple lawsuits filed against him right now for stealing beats from other underground producers, and he's so arrogant, he's clouded his ability to see straight. His flow is average at best, yet he thinks he's the best thing in Hip-Hop...? That doesn't compute...
