i do love smilies...
hey! :)

tomorrow i'm thinking about going to the local music shop and forking over some money for a new effects pedal, and the Boss DD-3 is a serious contender (sp?) (i cant let myself break the £100 barrier for the DD-6... well. my wallet wont :p )

ive listened to some samples on the internet of it being used, and i like it... but because (for me) its quite a lot of money, i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what theyve found of it? if the samples and some of the other reviews ive read are anything to go by, i could use it quite a lot, but obviously i cant tell from these whether its going to fall apart as soon as i get it out of the box (it shouldnt do obviously, its boss :p)

anyone?

Well sound quality and build construction will be just fine. What you need to ask yourself about is usability. The DD-3 has no means for doing a tap tempo for the delay. I know that for my needs, a delay without a tap tempo is useless, but your needs may vary. If you need a tap tempo, then save a little for the DD-6 (which I have but don't use because the internal tap tempo is hard to use), or find a used DD-5 around somewhere, which lets you hook up an external tap tempo switch.

a used DD-5? so they dont make them anymore...? but they still make the DD-3?

wheres the sense in that?

unless theyre not numbered chronologically...

*andy sits and thinks for a long, Long time* :p

Yeah, go figure....

As I understand it, they had the basic DD-3 around and then introduced the more advanced DD-5.

Then someone got the brilliant idea to totally convolute the tap tempo system and call it newer technology, so they brought out the DD-6 to replace the DD-5.

I keep hearing the DD-5 is the way to go. Much more user friendly than the 6 and more useful features than the 3.

well its a damn good job i didn't get round to going into town to buy it then! :p

thanks for the information, its much appreciated.

the dd3 sounds better than the dd5 and dd6. I have a dd2 and it sounds almost analog in a way. not the easiest for live as you have to bend over a lot to adjust it but still good for recording or whatever. just my 2 cents....

cool thanks.

it sounds like all of the pedals (maybe not including the DD-6?) have their good points, so maybe i cant go wrong! which is lucky...

thanks alot,

Andy

Agreed! I sold my DD-5 even after having the Analogman high cut mod done to it. There's kind of a metallic overtone, although slight, inparted into the signal. I still have a DM-2 nad DD-2, and love both of them.
