Alright,

I have a Delta 1010LT, and boy let me tell you . . . this thing kicks some serious ass.

As some of you may know, it comes with two channels of preamplification, which are on the only two balanced inputs.

For my needs, however, I have decided it would be best to disable the preamps and use the two balanced inputs for line-level sources.

Luckily, the owner's manual has a brief explanation on how to do this. Unluckily, I don't understand it. :( So here's what it says:

1) On the PCI card, use your fingertips or a tweezer, and remove the plastic jumper that is covering the top-most and middle metal pins.

2) Place the jumper over the middle and bottom-most metal pins:

(illustrations) 2) ii 2a) i!

Can anyone tell me what a jumper and a pin might look like, and how I might be able to identify where they would be?

My guess is that it would be simular to a pin and jumper on a motherboard if you know what that looks like.

I hear ya..... It would be very small for one, just a little plastic cube. You should open pins either side of it. Is there no illustration in the manual for this ?
 
A jumper is a little plastic rectangle that closes the circuit between to pins on a card or motherboard.

Most every jumper has a "J" followed by some numbers designating it as such. Sometimes there is also some artwork nearby. A drawing of a box with circles inside it. This picture depicts the pins and their numbers in order.

The paperwork that came with your card should have an illustration of all of this on it.

If I understand correctly, they want you to move a jumper on a set of three pins on the delta card. It would be covering the top two right now, and they want you to move it to the bottom two.
 
Hmmm. Now we're getting somewhere. I did find a couple of black plastic rectangular thingies with two metal things that look like . . . well, PINS sticking up inside of the plastic doohickeys. :) They are labeled JP1 and JP2 - And I can see where they could be shifted down.
