Sunday. Part 13.

I didn't hear any glitches in the MP3. I did hear some sort of ringing after the vocs start. I think it's in the piano-- on the fourth chord. Very very slight.

Anyway, this is great. You're on a roll. I wouldn't even suggest bagpipes. Is that your old upright? Do you have any other instumentation in mind, or just leaving it as is?

is that a real piano? this is very cool.. no doubt, my new favorite of yours..

a really great piece dude...

Sounds sweet over here. Just what I needed to lull me to sleep this eve. Great job.

nice intimate sound and singing. It sounds like a fantastic intro to something ... ( I even hear the toms on the ending). On its own, it is great, ...cut to a minute or so, and slammed into a tune would be fantastic.

ya know...this reminds me of this kid I used to know, 30 years ago. He was the little brother of the guy I used to be in a band with. He always 'snuck' his brothers guitar and practiced...and eventually got his own Gibson Les Paul Jr. (the older brother had a crappy Hagstrom, which he loved...the Gibson rocked the Hagstrom, naturally). Of course the little brother quickly became much better, made his own albums as a teen, and became a much better rounded musician in a very short time. So...you say??

Your stuff reminds me very much of his singing style, careful use of space, and never overplaying for playing's sake. Your music I think could be in the 60's, 70's...current...but fits them all. That is like that Mastercard commercial; "priceless" To me that is your best asset. You demonstrated you good musicianship in other stuff, but there is something that makes it transcend current fades, styles etc. That makes you one lucky son-of-a-bitch. Your not a Beatles ripoff, or a some other artist. You're just you. I can't really compliment anyone much higher. That's it....

I'd keep crankin' these Sunday ditties ...finished or not...

Holy shit dude, whatever you're doing...keep doing it. It's like the part of you that wrote pop songs has run smack dab into your depressed personal side and the result is fantastic. You got peanut butter in your own chocolate!

This is catchy, honest, depressing, powerful. I love the way it flirted with going "big" but never went there...that created a nice tension that suits the song very well.

The style of your vocal line is sort of classic rock, but in a good way...like those old songs that nobody ever gets sick of.

I'm listening with phones but the recording sounds great, really great.

These sunday songs I believe are your best work yet.

mood is good. I love a real piano too. Seems like your doing groove and flow, and that is way cool. This shows well that it don`t take 20 tracks to tell a story. keep the juice flowin' brother.

you know...that is a REALLY interesting thought/statement. I kinda just was "expecting" the obvious... going 'big'...but the feeling it created by NOT doing so was very evident. Excellent point put to words, Slack.

really cool!!.....man that piano is fucking haunting...right on!!!
vocals are superb as usual...man it sounds like this song is eminating from INSIDE my head.....nice.
.whew....really such a cool vibe......just enough ..not too short ..doesnt drag on and on.....this is just plain excellent

Wow,great piano sound!
Is it real?

Very haunting tune,vocals were excellent.
I was expecting a breakout too, this would fit really well as an interlude in a bigger production.
Mabey Sunday part 14?:D

Great job all around.

Thanks,
Pete

What mixmkr & Slack said. I was in and out of here all yesterday evening waiting for your next "sunday" masterpiece. But i'm older than monty and had to hit the sack. Great sounding piano man! Everything else was great too.

Any chance you could maybe like put out a middle of the week tune to go along with sunday?:D...

Hoo! On a roll indeed...

Great opening line!

I really appreciate this stuff you've been putting up here recently. It's like hearing your stuff when it's just arriving. Really nice. Really different. Your voice is really enhanced by quieter, reflective music. You might choose not to polish it and work it up into something that absorbed acres of time and mountains of work.

I might choose to learn something from that. :D

Wish I had a piano...

Oh yeah, almost forgot - what a beautiful piece of music. I really like it. No real reason not to keep at it then, right. :D

pglewis: There is a glitch in there, near the start. This is not a real piano :o It's the lowely Alesis Nanopiano. However, it still sounds ok. I don't know what I plan on doing with this. I was going to add an acoustic or bagpipes when the cymbals crash but I'm not sure.

B.SABBATH: No real piano. I wish it were. Played for real though, roland controller keyboard and recorded as wav files. Thanks for listening to it.

Charva: Put's you to sleep eh? thanks! :)

mixmkr: Always like your detailed responses. Interesting story. I think a lot of people start out in a similiar ways. Kind of the reverse for me though, I started playing guitar before my older brother so I guess I got him interested in it. I listen to mainly older rock, motown - over and over. Those are my influences. There is enough good music in 60's / 70's to keep me listening for a long time. Appreciate the comments/compliments, re. trancending, not beatles rip-off etc. I'm glad it sounds original.

Slackmaster2K: I don't know what I'm doing, maybe I'm having a mental breakdown. "This is catchy, honest, depressing, powerful." - Cool! "like those old songs that nobody ever gets sick of". Yeah that's the stuff I listen to. Interesting observation on the 'big' part. The song could of went 'big' at that point but the drums were all torn down, just a crash on a stand was available. Maybe that was a good thing. My drumming is worse than my piano playing. Thanks for listening to it Slack.

Toki987: Thanks for the comments Toki987. Sparse instrumentation for sure.

jamal buchet: "man it sounds like this song is eminating from INSIDE my head" It IS man! heheh. Thank you.

muzeman: Alas, not a real piano. You're right there, it would work as some sort of interlude. If I get enough of these sunday tunes together I may just do that. Make a concept album, that would be retro.

David: Glad you like it. You know, I was thinking about your comment in the last sunday tune. So I was thinking, damn I got to get this thing done and posted. It's a kind of personal challenge. One tune a week is more than I usually do, middle of the weeks is out, sorry. :) Thanks again David.

Dobro, must of posted while I was writing. That happened last time to, strange. I appreciate that you appreciate it. This is another quickly written and recorded tune, maybe I should just do that instead of spending years on one tune. Like that doomed project 2 ! :) thanks Dobro.

Very Beatle like with a Supertramp kind of feel (that is a cool combination) ...

I really loved this tune. I didn't notice anything wrong with the mp3...

Kind of sounds like the ending of an album...

I kept waiting for the drums to kick in with a full orchestra near the end... :)

Very good writing, nice playing and a great performance!

Great piano sound no matter the source!
Full and wide, nice tone!
Vocals recorded well, fit the mix nicely.

I can't really stuff this in any "sounds like ____" form because when I think it sounds like someone............it doesn't.
Originality is HUGE to me and you must take it seriously from listening to your Sunday projects.

A fine job!
Joel

Hey Emeric,
.....Wow man... this is very cool. I love the way you leave the vocs hanging over the chord changes..... very nice. I'll agree w/ the above.... that does sound like a real piano.

Very very nice man......

Nice piece. I liked the way everything sits together. The voice and piano work together very well. Nice job. Pretty song.

a freakin' Alesis nanopiano!

A NANOPIANO!!!

damn..

I used to have one, but I sold it and put the beans towards an Alesis QS6.1.. I also have a Roland XP-30, but for some reason the pianos dont sound as good as this.. Maybe it's just the way you do it.. I don't know..

Extra cool piece of information for me.

thanks.. I hear this song differently now knowing that..

A NANOPIANO!!!!

Sam goes postal and throws his keyboards through the front window of Guitar Center demanding satisfaction!!

boydrj: Two of my favourite bands. I think Supertramp is way underrated. Most sites I stumble across on that band tend to make fun of them. I don't know why. Thanks man.

jcmm: Glad it can't be pinpointed to anything in particuliar. It does have overtones of Supertramp though. As soon as you play piano line like that, anything will. Thanks jcmm.

Appreciate the listen Guernica!

TripleM: Sparse mix, makes everything easier. Thanks for listening to it.

B.SABBATH: Although the nanopiano may work on this tune, it is very limited in other respects. I don't have a sustain pedal unfortunately, so I used a guitar channal switch which stuck the sustain on full throttle. Kind of a drag actually. Got to get one of those pedals someday.

wow!! this real nice!! that little echo vox?? in the left channel was a very cool addition!!! nice, nice and nice!!:D

thank's , man

peace
