Stereo Mic: can I adjust/balance?

I use a Sony Stereo mic (MS-907) with my MD when I record our band practices. When I dump it onto computer, I notice that the right side is always a stronger signal then the left, its as if the recording levels are different for L & R channels. Is there a way to check that channels are going to record at same level? (am I silly, and is this an MD problem I gotta solve by redoing EPROM. MD does not allow adjustment for R-L levels, atleast not that I know). Thanks.......I am a newbie and definitely not mic knowledgable.

It's probably caused by mic placement. You may have the drums or a loud guitar or something on the side that is louder.

If you want to test it then take a mono signal and split it into a stereo signal and put that into the MD. If you are still getting uneven levels then something is wrong.
