I know this has been asked time and time again, but when will the SPA mic be out and what will it cost?

Alan Hyatt said somewhere around $1500 I think, but Stephen Paul said that the mic he had designed, was the mic he had always wanted to make, but that it would be imposible to built for even $3500.

Does this mean that the $1500 S. Paul mic will be a different one from 'the one he'd always wanted to make', or is it just that when he made the comment about the production costs, he had not been introduced to the Chinese??

Will his "Godzilla" ever be produced?

Lemme answer this one on behalf of Stephen and Alan (without their permission or knowledge):

Stephen is a "no-compromise" kinda guy, and if it's gonna have his name on it, it's gonna be the best he can design, period.

Now having said that, there are some restrictions with regards to price, parts, hand voicing, and quantity parts costing to consider. It's possible for Stephen to build the best possible mic within several different price ranges.

This first mic has some unique sourcing that makes it feasible for Stephen to build a great mic at a lower than thought of price point, because of Alan's connections, and the kind of material quantities that Alan deals in.

I'm sure this mic will have a lot of the innovations that he originally intended for his "Godzilla" mic, but this is only the first in a series of unique mics, if I know Alan and Stephen. The final judges will be all of us (and the success of this first model) as to whether other models are added in the Stephen Paul line.

Patience Funk, patience.

Things are moving, but remember, every bit of this mic has to meet Stephen's standards, consequently, if there is a modification made, then testing has to start all over again................this process is likely to continue until Stephen is sure that the mic will be worthy of carrying his name.

Stephen made a comment a few days ago to the effect that he is injection moulding parts at the present time...........whether these are for final production or not I don't know.

I have the feeling it may be some time yet before the mic is available.

Thought I'd bump this up so Alan might see it and give us the "real" word on it.

The "Godzilla" is not a production mic concept. Different thing altogether.
The mic we are building is a production unit. I would not describe any part of it as "compromise", except where the laws of physics apply and even then, it's a tough call.
