Sounds from the FireWire 410

Now, I have just made the leap to using an M-Audio FireWire 410 as my soundcard (I used to use my SoundBlaster Live card). Question, as I'm new to the FireWire 410. When I record, the sound out of the FireWire is much more bassy, almost sounded like I' recorded in a padded room or through a box (if you understand my meaning). My recordings through the SoundBlaster Live is much more tinny/trebble like. Now, is this a fault of the FireWire, or just my ears used to my old recordings or what? What should I expect to hear because whad I did hear was not what I expected.

FYI - I mic my cab with an SM-57 direct to the FireWire 410. Software is Acid Pro 5.0 (and Sonar 5 producer edition, but the learning curve on that one is too steep still and I hope not a mistake).

Any comments/help is appreciated.

Does It Sound Better? You May Be Picking Up More Actual Sound Than W/ The Sb.

The 410 is probably picking up more low end than the SB was. I have one and it does a good job for the price. Try using a condenser mic and see if it is more crisp and clear. Dynamic mics tend to boost the low end, at least my SM58 does.

Sonar 5 is no mistake, just take time to read and learn to use it. It has some awesome reverb based on canyons in Utah and other places.

thanks for your help.

Now, if only I could figure out how to create drums in Sonar 5. In acid it was simple. Import the drum wave files. Then draw/paint them in the track. Each drum was it's own track. Simple.

I am using the Firewire 410, and it appears to be fairly flat to me. It c ould pay to see what the frequency responce of the SB is in comparison to the Firewire.

Perhaps the SB just didn't capture the full width of sound??? Just a thought..
