Soundblaster live & Steinberg card compatability?

hey guys
i would appreciate any help/advice i could get on my 'lil problem i have:

i currently am using the sound card that came in the steinberg project pack:

all i am using it for at the moment is to record my dj mix sets
& to mess around making a few songs on my pc

i now wanna try mess around with MIDI & have realised that this card doesnt support MIDI

when i asked a friend he said that i should keep my current card to record my sets coz the SB Live wont have such good quality
& buy a SB live to go with my current card to get to grips with MIDI

now he also mentioned that the two cards might not "go so nicely together"
has anybody had any experience on this?

& does anybody know any other alternatives i might have?
in about the $100-$150 dollar price range?

i would really appreciate any help i could get on this

depends on what you call working together....do use them both at the same time may be a problem, so that may be out of the question...i have two cards in my machine, one for midi and one for audio...i do midi parts with the one card, record them as wav files so that i can use them with the other card....others here use that method also and works fine.....

once you get them installed and work out any IRQ issues, they usually play together fine....

oh, and SB Live is fine...get the cheapest version, usually around $50 for the Value....they allow you to use SoundFonts which is really cool.....but youll find out more about that if you get it.....

I find that both my proper audi soundcard and my live owrk nicely together provided that neither are in the first PCI slot next to my graphics card and that u dont have a TV card installed. (TV cards seem to have major compatability conflicts with most audio cards for some reason. They work ok if you have one audio card but when u have two they get angry...)
