hey..first time posting..or at this site for that matter and anyways..I've been in and out of several bands, and I'm to the point of going solo so to speak. I have enough material that I have written to do a self-recorded EP. I have the equipment to play all of the parts, and etc...
The problem is, I have no clue what type of equipment I'll need to do this project. I'll need 8 tracks min., possibly more, but 8 will probably do. 2 vocal tracks, 2 guitars, bass, drums, and keyboards, and possibly more on some songs.
Now, I have a computer, so..what other equipment will I need? Im not going for studio quality, but I'd like it to sound decent at worst, and Im on a budget..and advice appreciated, thanks. Lou

really depends how much of a budget.....

about the cheapest id go is a Delta 1010lt soundcard ($250) and a 1 Audio Buddy (2X$75)......that will give you 4 inputs with preamps.....

that doesnt include mics......

if you need mics,

id get a pair of Marshall MXL603's, a shure sm57,a AT ATMPRO25, and a Marshall MXLv67......there wont be much you cant do with those......

thanks

thanks...i have a few EV mics, nothing really for instrument micing though. I'll check out the ones you listed though. Lou

If you are on a budget ...Audio teckicia makes some mics that are fair and cost a lot less than Shure or Marshalls. Ev's will probably do for vocals just don't forget to bump up the bass a little as they tend to be a little tinny sounding if you don't. Before you spend a lot of money on new gear check out a few pawn shops, you might find a good deal on a mixer that will suit your purposes well for a lot less than the price fo a new one,( I got mine that way and it works fine.) good luck, Dani
