Software for slowing down songs without changing pitch???

I know that Tascam has there Guitar, Bass, and vocal trainer units out there for around 170 bucks, but my brother was telling me that there are some PC software programs out there that basically do the same thing?? (And I'm sure they'd be much, much cheaper.. )

I would be using this to slow down songs to learn the blazing solo passages, and would also like to be able to change the pitch/tuning of a song from lets say Eb to E so that I don't have to mess with my floyds

Any info on this would be great!!

Time Factory = $400.00 = I could pay someone to teach me the stuff cheaper than that!

I actually found the SlowGold thing after I posted this thread here, I think I'll download the trial version and check it out........Looks like it'll do everything that I need it to do for me.

Transcribe!

I've used Transcribe! to slow stuff down without changing the pitch. The website is www.seventhstring.com and they have a demo. I thought it was worth the money. It has a cool spectrum analyzer where you can highlight a section and it will show you the notes in a chord also.

I like Transcribe for doing transcriptions (imagine that!) as well. It's slowing algorithm isn't the best, but it gets the job done.

Audacity is able to slow down without changing pitch, and also is able to change pitch without affecting tempo.
Oh, and Audacity is a free multi-tracking program.

There is a plugin for winamp that can do exactly what you want. It is called PaceMaker and is available here:

Works pretty well. I used to use it for tabbing out drum parts for songs.

Hey Werner, does your multitracking software have a "time stretch" function? Maybe you could use that to slow down a song without altering its pitch. Not sure how well it'd work, but you very well may already have a means to do this without having to go any further than your Start menu.
