anyone know where i can get a cord that will work for a sennheiser 421 i just got?

i'm excited about this mic, and now i can't use it until i find a cord that has 3 tiny holes to work with this!

are they all like this or just older ones?

thanks!

Out of curiousity, what other mics do you have?

As far as I know, the 421 uses a standard XLR cable.

such an addictive habit, microphones.

i don't have a ton. for the last few years i've made do with a couple 57's, a 58 i hardly ever employ, a couple radio shack PZM's, and a 4033, which i love and use on everything. i have a couple pro-37r's which i've used on drums but i dont record drums all that much (there's barely room to set them up in the bedroom studio i've got), so they don't get a ton of use.

my recent acquisitions are the 421, a beyer m160 ribbon, and the studio projects C1 i've read so much about here, haven't used it yet though.

the pins and the plug in general on the end of my 421 is much smaller than a normal xlr...

Thats very odd, I have NEVER come across a 421 that doesn't have standard XLR 3 pin connections. ????????

This is a 3 pin DIN connection..if you want to make a cable, here are the specs:

3 Pin DIN for 421: Pin 1 = hot, Pin 3 = cold, Pin 2 = Ground

Actually, does it have a locking thread? It may be a tuchel connector.

You can probably contact Sennheiser to get a cable.

tuchel

an electronics guy i use told me it was a Tuchel; i was on hold at sennheiser for oh, 30 minutes yesterday before i gave up.

a helpful guy at Mars of all places called them for me today and got a part number for them -- so i guess it's for a connector and i'll have to make a cable, which i haven't done.

gotta do it sometime, but is the pin config. the same as for a normal XLR when i do the wiring?

thanks!
