I'm working on the ceiling and front wall of a small studio (17'x11.4x8.6)and am hoping to see if anyone could give me ideas before I waste time and greenbacks (mula, doh).

I have bass traps in the corners, 1 centered (full height ) on front wall and a 4'x4' mid resonator trap on the rear wall.

I've read on the SAE sight that most small rooms as I have , results in a problem @300hz, in my case seems to be true. Low freq's seems to be overall taken care of, so my thought is that killing the 300hz range will help tighten up the low and as well.
I'm trying to figure out if John Sayers' design on slot resonators are a good option on the front wall(behind monitors), or would it be too reflective? I am considering 703 panels lifted off the wall as an alternative.

Any opinions or ideas on this?

Tony

p.s. I am gong to build slot resonators on side walls in the future.

Tonio - I hope I've interpreted your layout correctly. I'd go with the 703 in this case as you have free standing monitors. If they were soffit I'd go with the slots, but here I'd use the 703.

Maybe you could give us a drawing of where you are at the moment?

cheers

Pardon the newbie,
Lets see if I can attach a lame sketch. its a simple rectangular space.
windows centered on the l&r walls 2x4', the bass traps are floor to ceiling. Yes the monitors are tilted inward, I did'nt know how to
turn them-hey I suck at graphical stuff.

ah - that's what I thought. Why not both alternating??

Alternating? funky... :) that would be a consideration, but I'll probably be confused on which to put where he he..

How about slots onthe bottom (48") and 703 panels on the top?
It sure would make building them a snap.

Robin,
Actually I do have bass traps in the corners and 1 centered on front wall, and 1 on the back wall. But thanks for mentioning it;)
