sigma tel question

i have a home built computer - it isnt specifically built for recording...unfortunately...not yet anyway...

heres the problem

the sound card is sigma tel something something...i cannot get the mic to come thru for ntrack...no go with both mic jacks ( the one on front top and the one in back)...any suggestions....i am looking into a usb interface....

any suggestions until i get an interface?...i am running xp pro 32 bit...i have 64 but no xp for 64 yet...

vista?...HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA if u post that ill be forced to come to your house and kick you where it hurts ! multiple times....
 
Honestly dude, any not-made-for-recording card is gonna give you problems, either with sound quality or even just getting it to physically work. Save up for a proper interface, and take the extra time you've got before recording to practice! Regardless of how well you think you know your songs, everybody can always use more practice...


*edit: nobody would ever recommend that you downgrade to Vista. It's the worst Microsoft operating system since Windows ME.
