switch out the EMG Humbucker in my Jackson for the Dimarzio Steve Morse Humbucker I was given.

You will never really know if you should or shouldn't until you change it out. Then and only then will you know if you should have or shouldn't have!

Nothing ventured....Nothing gained......!!!!!

what kind of answer is that, with that kind of commitment you are never going to keep a woman!

What kind of answer do you want? Are you waiting for some one to say what you really want to hear?

Who said anything about Women and the C word? :)

I say go for it! Changing out pickups in a guitar is almost as simple as it gets with electronics. If you don't like it, put the EMG back in. If you need wiring diagrams, you can probably find them online.

I posted this earlier Dragonworks,

Model DP 205 Neck pickup = dark smooth tone, clean low end.

Model DP 200 Bridge pickup = upper mid-range peak, hot with clean bass response.

Without actually hearing the Steve Morse modelled Dimarzio in action if you want this particular features from a pickup well then "YES' change out the EMG for the Dimarzio.

The Steve Morse Dimarzio, from what I have read about them is they are the highest output humbuckers that Dimarzio produce!

Is that answer any better? :D

I'm trying hard to show some commitment here! :)

I used to be a compulsive pickup changer and one of my changes was to put in EMG's, I found them too clean, like glass and I put back the strat ones, Buyt I have used several DiMarzio's and liked them all, currently I am using the Seymour Duncan SH '59 s in a Strat, luv em.

I'm suprised you use EMGs.

They always sounded good (to me) in a bass, but rather lifeless in a guitar.

I'd do it just to see if it's what you want.

Im not using emgs, that is what came with the guitar, and they sound just fine. But then again, I can make just about any guitar sound fine.

Try it out...you can always change them back.

Ive become a mad pickup swapper. Its fun and cheap.

I guess the Dimarzio is set up for coil tapping, it has four wires and they are the same colors as the ones coming out of the EMG. I guess I would just wire it up the same? How do I know if the wires are the same as the EMG?
Thanx for your help guys. :)
