Well for the past year and a half I've been running Audacity, pretty much the best DAW you're gonna get for free. It's a pretty sorry excuse for a DAW. But hey its free. I've read a whole lot of reviews and articles, and I think that Reaper is really the best bang for your buck. I can get some pretty good sounding tracks just with Audacity, but it's very limited. Reaper is a full functioning program and I will be able to get better products. I don't have the money to buy Pro Tools or Cubase and Reaper is only $60. Should I do it?
