its a 4x5x7m (hight) stone room. The Surround system will be used for music listening & movie watching + sound engineering here and there.

I want a 5piece set for around 800-1000€. what do you guys think i should buy?
I want clarity, loudness, enough bass.

I have though of two scenarios:

1. That I buy 2x _JBL LSR308 (front left, front right) + 3x JBL LSR305 (rear left, rear right, center)

2. 2x Wharferdale Diamond 10.2 (front left, front right) + 2x Wharferdale Diamond 10.1 (rear left, rear right) + Diamond CM (center) + amplifier.. but which one?

which setup is the better one? also how this system compare in loudness and in studio use - as reference monitors?

oh and i wanted to ask, are there any jlb sets or wharferdale Surround sets that would save me a cent or two because of the mass buy?

please help and thanks.. :)

Board has lite traffic during these last few hours, plus it is not a question that gets asked around here.

My two cents, listening pleasure and mixing duties often work against each other. One you want the system to create the best listening experience while the mixing version you want the most neutral. Most will use two different sets of speakers.

For mixing in surround. I would love to gives this a try. Since SACD and DVDAudio days, I love the concept, I think it creates a really great opportunity to expand the mix, but have never really tried it.

Be a little patient, I am sure there will be others provide more/better information.

7 meter height room - almost 23 feet? Really? You say 'stone room' - as in stone/concrete walls all the way around? You're going to need a lot of bass trapping in the corners, and even though you've got good height, 4m x 5m is not a very large room - read the 'small room acoustics' sticky at the top of the Studio Building section of these forums.

thanks, but i dont need any advices on acoustics i just want to know if anyone here ownthe wharferdales or a similar setup? i will care about the acoustic treatment, i just want to buy the speakers but it seems i will just need to find out by myself because no one uses this setup. thanks anyway and yes i know its a problematic room but i dont have other choice

Well, if you can treat the room, then you do have a choice. If you can't treat the room, then your choice of speakers will come down to which will sound the best in your room. That no one can tell you because we don't know how bad your room is going to sound, other than probably bad.

If you don't get that, then maybe you need more advice on acoustics than you realize.
