SansAmp GT-2

The GT2 kicks ass. A friend of mine released a commercial grade CD using only the GT2. He had rave reviews in Recording Magazine. Anywho, even at full price, the GT2 is well worth it. Anything under $100 is a steal.
 
I second the vote on the GT-2. I had one about a year ago - loved it. But then everyone started talking about PODs and the J-stations. I sold my GT-2 and auditioned those other two and ended up with the J-station.

Bad move! Totally solid state sounding - even through a tube pre-amp (ART MP). The POD/J-stations both have a butt-load of sounds to choose from. But they don't have the vibe that the little SansAmp does.

I sold the J-station and went with a Trademark 10 (it has the GT-2 built into it).

I"m not sure why, but the Sansamp stuff really behaves very much like a tube. No, it's not a Mesa Boogie, Marshall or Fender. But $70 for the GT-2 (or $150 for the Trademark 10), it can't be touched for the money.

I just wish that Tech21 would make a Trademark 30. They jump up from 10 to a 60 watt (Trademark 60).
 
OOOOOH! The GT2! :p

I love mine. I've had it for over five years and would NEVER part with it.

For reference, I also have a Mesa/Boogie TriAxis, a Mesa/Boogie Quad, a RP100, a SansAmp PSA-1, and others. For some purposes, the GT2 is my pre of choice. Good tones and it reacts to my playing more naturally than any modeler.

Regarding your other thread, keep in mind you cannot switch between different settings on the GT2. It's either on or bypassed. Thus, you can't switch between a clean Fender tone and a screaming Marshall lead tone.

So when it is set up for dirty sounds, hitting the switch bypasses it to just a clean sound though, right? With enough volume to hear it still and all? Just making sure, this is VERY neccesary. As long as you can still hear it plain as day when its NOT engaged.

Hitting the switch (LED out) is essentially, DI mode... just the sound straight off the pickups.... that's not necessarily the "clean" sound you'd look for....

The switch is really bypass on/off.... it isn't a dual-channel unit where you get a "dirty" channel and can then switch to a "clean" channel.... it's either effect on, or DI......
