Master of the Obvious
The Frequency curve only going down to 90Hz... what's wrong with just boosting the low end. I just picked one up and compared it to a 57 real quick last night. With a little cut on the top and boost at the bottom I got it pretty close to a 57. 57 is richer.

I know it's been stated that they're good for 14" toms and under, but if I use it on a 16", what could boosting the low EQ hurt? I know the "if it sounds OK to you then do it", So I'm kinda looking for a more scientific response. Does boosting something that wasn't actually picked up bring on any ill effect, er something?

With that latest $15 deal, I found 2, decided to check em out... Not bad for $15. Figure they can even be used when more back up vocals are needed for rehearsal.

Thanks,
B.

Anyone know why they discontinued them? Maybe they're going to expand the range.

Just don't boost it too much... IMO, over boosting the EQ sounds like crap.

low eq

As I understand it, one problem with using eq to boost a particular frequency band is that you will also amplify any noise in that band. In the case of boosting low frequencies this could mean problems with 60 cycle hum. Moderate amounts of boost are probably OK.
