I want to replace my mixing console (48/8) with computer based mixing .

First I have to get a two 2048 mkII Motu cards.
Second the Logic Controller + XT

Then I can get put all my synths/MIcs/samplers directly to the PC and control it from the logic controller.

Use the outputs of the motu as sends for effects and as sends to the studio room or vocal booth.

Is this possible or is there to much latency.
Are the pre-amps good enough ?
Should I stick with my outboard mixing console ?

Any advice ??

First of all, the MOTU doesn't have any preamps, just 8 analog ins and outs plus 24 channels of Lightpipe and TDIF and of course S/PDIF. There are ways around latency issues but it's not too bad.
Personally I like my console, it makes monitoring and tracking easier for me, but YMMV.
Regardless of what platform you use, you can still mix in the computer if you like.

What console are you using? That will make the biggest difference as to which is better.

I Use a the Topaz Project 8
with 36 inputs - 36 monitor in/outs - 8 inline bus

Maybe better to keep it and put all the monitor in/out to the MOTU then + use the logic controller to have more control over the PC then ?
