Ya skokie rules, its true. I have a question about monitoring. I know that i need an extremely flat sound and i have two options:
1)I have Jbl powered speakers that i can just turn the hi, mid , and low to zero to get the flattest sound possible

2)I have a pair of KEF Corello speakers from the 70's and they have a decently flat sound

If anybody has any knowledge on this and can help me it would be appreciated.

Even if you level off the settings on your JBL speakers, it doen't mean you are going to get a flat response. The room you are putting those speakers into is going to change the way they sound, those controls are basically there to help level the way they will sound in a particular room. You can still use them, its always good to check a mix on multiple sources, but I don't think they would be perfectly flat.

Ok thank you for all the helpful replies. I have an important decision to make in terms of recording quality. I have approximately 1800 dollars to spend on a digital audio workstation and effects and monitors and stuff like that. I pretty much have my mind set on either the yamaha aw16 DAW or the next one up the aw2816. So my question is this: If i get the aw16 I will have a little extra money to spend on monitors and a good vocal microphone. However, if I get the aw2816 i get more of a pro audio sound out of the workstation due to the 24 bit recording. But i wont have much money and i wont be able to get studio monitors and any effects. So what should i do?

P.S. the yamaha aw16 has a 16 bit to 24 converter or something like that. I was wondering what that does and if it means something.
