Recording to a flash drive

Hey Guys,
I was wondering if its possible and advisable to record to an external flash drive. I have an external hard drive but i record out of my studio alot so its a pain to bring all my equipment.

are you talking about a usb stick?

or like a usb external flash hard drive? (i don't even know if they exist...)

the links not really working for me. I used to have portable audacity, and sometimes i'd go around and record , sometimes at school in music class. I only had a 1 gig usb flash drive, but i was just fooling around coming up with track ideas for fun. It still held onto the files and worked fast enough. Reaper can run from usb too.
