First, what kind of microphone are you trying to use? Any kind of decent-quality microphone is likely going to be mis-matched by trying to plug it into a computer gaming card, and a computer microphone won't have the sound quality. You really should skip the computer gaming card and get a halfway-decent mocrophone and preamp/interface. Look up the Tascam 122L; you should be able to find a package that comes bundled with an inexpensive microphone for about $200.

The bonus news if you do that is that it will come with free software so you won't have to take crap from anybody here for using a stolen copy of a $2000 piece of software like you're trying to do now.
