Hello ALL, this may be a stupid question but from what I've read there are alot of knowledgable people here.

If I digitally record in 16 bit format on my digitial recorder and then mix to 24 bit DAT will my recording be converted from 16 bit to 24 bit? Probably too simple eh?

Thanks for any responses.

Dave

Yes it will, but if you are just doing a direct digital transfer of files, there is no advantage, as you are just adding a bunch of zeros to the end.

I see said the blind man to the deaf mute!
It does make sense, thanks!

if I transfer my 2 bit paycheck to 24 bit....will it still add those zeros to the end? ....or will it just be 2 bit?;)

Oh! Sorry to hear they went to a merit system at your company! :D

The good news: yes, they'll add zeros to the end. The bad news: they'll all be to the right of the decimal point.
