H Henri Devill New member Sep 20, 2004 #3 Great amps...59's and 65's...anyways..with the 59 try micing the back of the amp also{along with the front}..I like useing a condenser about 6" to 12" out on the backside..But experiment..check your phase ect. Good luck P.S The 59 is a open back combo

foo Active member Sep 21, 2004 #4 Two SM 57s (if you've got better mics, then cool) One off-centre on the cone of one speaker right against the fabric. The other about 12 feet back pointed straight at the grill cloth.
