Anyone got any tips on how to most tranparently cature the voice of a '59 Bassman?

Thanks!

Well,

I've got a '65 Bassman w/ a '65 2x12 Bottom. I just put the mic about 6" from the grill and slightly off centered from the cone.

Great amps...59's and 65's...anyways..with the 59 try micing the back of the amp also{along with the front}..I like useing a condenser about 6" to 12" out on the backside..But experiment..check your phase ect. Good luck :)

P.S The 59 is a open back combo

Two SM 57s (if you've got better mics, then cool)

One off-centre on the cone of one speaker right against the fabric. The other about 12 feet back pointed straight at the grill cloth.

Thanks for the tips! I'll give a shot in the next couple 'o days.
