record over the phone.

I know this isnt a great idea. But im desperate to record my brother.
I tried twice once the vocals were to low to be recorded,
second time I reved up the gain and got a weak signal.
Problem being noise to sound ratio.
I tried to make it louder but the noise gets louder too.
I used noise reduction and it takes out the noise but the vocals sound robot sounding.
Is there any plug in that will clear this up?
Or do I just have to get a louder signal?

You're recording over a phone? A speaker phone right?

As long as you have a decent mic you should be able to record it pretty much as you hear it.

No thats one of the problems the speaker is in another room on the base.,
I have no phone jack in the room I record in.
so i tried to go right from the speaker to mic.
im thinking of just getting a 50 ft cord.
you think the quality will be upped that way?

use skype its like instant messaging but with talking and the quality is much better than a speaker phone and it free

Just what I have in mind. You can record direct without going thru the speaker.
