I've been looking at the BBE Sonic Maximizer and have debating over whether I should get a rack unit or the pedal. I don't have any rack effects and only one floor pedal (RP50). Would it seem senseless to get the rack unit, maybe as a start to a rack? Or should I just stick with a pedal since I'm not out gigging anywhere on a regular basis except for home? One other reason I'm considering a rack unit is because I could get one cheaper than a pedal at this time (older models of course).

I'd say go rack. I only have one rack unit at the moment (a hush), but I've got it in a 3 space case and I plan to get some more rack equipment soon (Korg DTR 1000/2000 and a Digital Music GCX audio switcher controlled by a midi floorboard).

The good thing about rack stuff is that, if you have a good number of rack effects or things you need within one case, it's good to have things stacked vertically to take up less space. Especially in the home.

My first suggestion would be to be DARN SURE that you like what that BBE is going to do to your guitar sound. Sonic expanders like the BBE are very easy to use incorrectly and can totally suck the life out of any sound run through them. I'm not saying don't get it....I'm just saying be sure it's what you want before you get it.
