How is everyone doing?

I have a quick ?.

I picked up an 8" practice pad and a set of sticks for my son. He expressed interest in playing drums. I don't want to buy a cheapo kit and I don't want to spend alot of $$ unless he shows real interest(so much for quick).

Is there a decent book/online program/anything I can get him to use with the practice pad. ie timming exercises etc etc.

"Stick Control" by George Lawrence Stone. Absolutely the place to start. Rudiments are everything and translate to any percussion medium. I got my copy in elementary school and continued to use it as a method book through college, even while studying kit for a while.

Also, if you're not familiar with Steve Weiss Music, it's probably the best place to get percussion related "stuff" through the mail. And they even have a website now. (for a long time they were not online and it was a paper catalog only)
