question about p-90s

I just got some mighty mite p-90s to mod my strat. I have 2 questions...

1. what is the differnece between 250 and 500 pots on the volume and tone?

2. which lead is the hot one? there is a short black one and a longer white one, which is slightly flimsier, so I guess this is the ground?

Black is usually ground, and is always ground on two conductor Gibsons (actually, the ground is usually a braided ground on humbuckers, but close enough).


250K pots are a little darker or warmer than 500k pots, which are a little brighter or crisper.
