question about an odd amp

Well, I've never seen (or even heard of) such a thing. But, my very first guitar was a Teisco del Rey. (An incredibly horrendous instrument, by the way.)

What time frame are we talking about for that gizmo? The mid-60's? I'll bet it looks pretty funky.

I am beginning to think maybe it is a figment of my imagination. My first guitar was Teisco also, four pickups and a whammy!!! It was a dog, but it was my first dog.
I believe it is mid 60s. It is about 18 inches wide, 1.5 inches high, and 12 inches deep. 5 12ax7s. Two channels, reverb, tremolo, high mid and low on each channel. Switchable between stereo or mono. It isn't working and I have been carrying it around with me for about 30 years. I was thinking of having it fixed cause it is so cool looking and so rare.
I have a friend who is in the music buisness full time and he seems to remember a Teisco stereo guitar and he thinks maybe this preamp had some thing to do with that particular guitar.

Yeah, I was going to guess that it was probably designed for a stereo guitar. They did all kinds of funky stuff back then. If you have one, I'd definitely get 'er fixed if I was you. Even if it doesn't end up sounding great (and who knows, it might sound awesome), then you'd still have a nice conversation piece with lots of personality.

We had a pawn shop in my home town when I was growing up that was practically a museum of those weird, funky old guitars from the 60's. (That's where I got my Teisco, in fact.) Some of those instruments looked like something out of the Star Wars Cantina scene. I used to LOVE hanging out there. Unfortunately, the owner was a total crook. The first amp I bought, to go with the Tiesco, blew up within 24 hours, and he wouldn't make it good. Keep in mind that it had taken me a LONG TIME to save up my pennies and quarters to be able to buy an amp and guitar when I was 13 years old.

Ah, the adventures of a misspent youth!
