so is it a software package, no hardware or anything?
I had a quick look, it seems like another cool edit. a simple interface may be a selling point but i didnt have time to see what key features it had that sonar or pro tools didn't

I've seen some top mastering studios use it. It seems like it would be good for video post production.
I've never used it. I'm just trying to see if anybody here has a thoughts on it.

i enquired about this. an owner posted on another board to me that it
sounded wonderfull for classical recordings.
it looks to me like more of a mastering type product that mastering engineers would use.

We have 2 Pyramix systems here and love them. We moved from Sonic Solutions to Pyramix a year and a half ago. I am not a fan of PTs so I looked at all the options. Unless you need Midi incorporated like PTs, Pyramix is a sweet system, less expensive, and very professional and stable.

Pyramix is my choice
I bought it about 8 years ago when it was demonstrated to me by my local supplier in L.A. I work for a large post house where we use PT & Sonic; and I record at home using Pyramix. PT is popular because it is ubiquitous (VHS vs Beta, etc.) and Sonic for its NoNoise restoration algorithms and capabilities. In my opinion, Pyramix beats them both, hands down. Other programs record at 192/24bit. Pyramix at 384/32bit and higher. Pyramix will import and export PT, Sonic and other sessions, and has the most file exchange formats I've seen. It is possible to configure the Pyramix keyboard to follow PT, Sonic and other programs' keystrokes. But if you take the time to learn Pyramix's own commands (more flexible = more complicated), editing is MUCH quicker. I've used PT, Sonic and Pyramix extensively and it is my choice to own. The company is Merging Technologies and their site is merging.com. Check it out for yourself.
