i am about to order one from 8th street music...for 499.99, comes with a $42.95 pop filter.

499 is as low as I have seen, seems to be the going rate..but could anyone tell me if they know of a much better deal than that?

For awhile BPM music was doing em for about $400.

You have to email them for the price though. They might have stopped, because I think that Rode was upset that they were selling them so low.

Also, check with Full Compass. They quoted me $425 a few months back, and they also have the best price around on the shockmount.

thanks guys.

ok, i didn't realize that i wasn't getting the shockmount with it even.

thanks a bunch.

wes,
I'll sell you mine for $400. The mic is less than a month old. I bought for a project and i decided it wasn't the best mic for my voice. Everything is in perfect condition. I don't have the shockmount. email me at frist44@aol.com if you're interested.

I'm not in them market for the lexicon. I'm using plug-ins for all my effects.

I've recently figured out that my voice carries alot of midrange, almost to the point of really annoying when recorded through certain mics. The ntk's tube characteristics seemed to accentuate that in a way. I've bought a blue dragonfly since then and that mic suites my voice much better, so that's why i'm getting ride of then ntk. No doubt would it be a great mic to have around for other things, but i don't have the money to keep it after buying the blue. The mic sounds wonderfull though, look all over this bbs and everyone that has it loves it. So i think it's just a matter of me just wanting it for vocals and finding a better mic for my voice.

i dig...yeah thats right i remember now reading your other thread about that.

Blue mics are cool....if I could have the whole product line of any 2 mic manufaturers, and that had to be my entire mic cabinet, I would want Neumann, and Blue.

that way for "most everything" I could have the accuracy and transparency of the Neumann stuff, and then the Blue mics for whenever I needed something to sound "different".

Makes sense to me. Lots of money there though ;)

My voice has a lot of low register...so I am thinking the NTK is going to be a good bet for me. thoughts?

I honestly think it's sounded great on everything i've heard. Even the tracks i recorded with it on my voice were very usable and could have easily been kept, but i was in search of the perfect solution for my voice and i felt like there could be some improvement, however i didn't intend on doubling the price of the ntk when i got the blue. I couldn't resist though. I definitely wouldn't have been disappointed if i were forced to keep the tracks i did with the ntk, so i would say that if you don't have a similar mic in that class for vox you would be pleasantly surprised.

"I'm using plug-ins for all my effects."

That's where I'm at. The small quality difference between plugs and hardware isn't enough for me to get off my lazy ass and plug the lex in.
