Hey
(Iam from Macedonia and sry if i make mistakes)
Iam beginner and iam tryin to get in this rap shit.I got skills but the thing i dont have (the problem that almost everyone is having) is the $$$...Its been 6 months now ,since i bought my pc ( good one i think : 80 GB, 1,25 GB RAM,3.2 Procesor ) but the weird is that i have the simple 5.1 channel sound card that came up with the pc .The question is: If i get a preamp (can u tell me some good one and btw some cheap preamp with some good quality) and if i connect the mic into him and than i connect the preamp in my 5.1 channel sound card, will i have noise in my recordings ? I really dont understand what i need ,good sound card or preamp ? Can u give me more details, cuz iam short on budget, very short...Again the question is: If i buy preamp and connect the mic into him,and than connect the preamp into my simple 5.1 channel sound card, will i have much noise in my recordings?? plss give me some advices
tnx ,dzole"

there's no reason that you should get noise just because it's a cheap soundcard... the reason to go to a "real" one would have more to do with feature sets and adaptability... does the puter have a firewire connector??? or usb2?? there are several good alternatives for both... tascam for instance has a good one for @$350... check the online stores... here's one of the better... but dont know if they can ship to you... but will help you see whats available... and welcome to the bbs... dont think we have anyother macedonians...

sorry for the confusion... what i'm suggesting is foregoing your soundcard for what's normally refered to as an external interface... often they (as is the case with the tascam i mentioned) have mic pre's built into the device... so no mixer is necessary unless you simply want one...

just reading there... if you have a mixer you dont need a soundcard with preamps?

If you have a mixer, you still should have a decent interface, but the interface doesn't necessarily have to have pres. That said, with a few exceptions, almost any interface remotely suitable for recording has at least one....
