I have the desktop version of this module. The sounds are not too bad but it's pretty old school. Depending on what style of music you are doing it should at least be OK. If you have a keyboard controller you could look into softsynths. There are a lot of cheap/free ones out there.

Slow down a bit bit, vintage. Answer these questions and we can help.

What sounds do you need - broad orchestral palette? Nice piano? Just a better sounding version of the standard General Midi stuff?

Does your PC have a MIDI interface? Can you outline its specs? As much detail as possible please.

How exactly do you need to produce sounds. Do you have a controller keyboard? Do you have a soundcard?

There might well be an answer that will cost you exactly zip, give us some more detail and we'll help (I'll bend over backwards for a school app - we're both in the UK; I might have something I never use I could send you for free)

There are plenty of used Roland and Yamaha midi modules available for around $100-$150... look in your local newspaper and online at Ebay and Froogle.

Basically i need a broad range of instruments yeh. It is mainly for turning, allready composed midi pieces iv written at school, into half decent sounding songs. Gary Sharp, you sound like a good man hehe. Any freebies would be greatly appreciated :-) . Cheers for the help guys

OK, what I had in mind was sending you an Audiophile 2496 soundcard I don't use anymore. It's not worth the effort of selling it (they are about £60 new), it would just sit in my spares box. You would then get a higher quality softsynth, you can download good ones for free, and the soundcard with this will give you much higher quality sounds. You could spend £30 or £40 on a cheap MIDI controller keyboard to play it "live" as wel as playing back MIDI tracks.

This is why I was asking your PC spec - need to know its up to it, and are you happy to install a PCI soundcard (not difficult - step by step instructions included). PM me by all means.

Garry
