Remember me? I was getting to be a regular post-er last year... I dropped out of sight for a while & haven't touched my recording gear for quite some time. Here's my question, I had a total computer crash & lost everything... I now have a new pc & I've re-installed n-track. I registered with the 2 registration #'s Flavio sent me upon my initial purchase.

When I play a song, I'm getting skips in playback. If I remember correctly from long ago, that's what happens on unregistered trial downloads,... so that people who really wish to use the program will register it. I've e-mailed Flavio MULTIPLE times and explained the problem to him. I asked him if for some reason those old registration #'s are now invalid and if he can just assign me new registration #'s. I even forwarded back to him the original e-mail he sent the 1st registration #'s to me in.

For some reason, he just keeps replying to my e-mail with the same registration #'s, over & over. I don't mean this sarcastic but I'm wondering if he/his staff understands my english written request. Or maybe if n-track uses some automated response system wherein no actual human is reading my request.

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions? Have any of you ever heard of this problem? Maybe there's just something I'm overlooking since I've not used n-track in so long????

I'd greatly appreciate any advice... Thanks.

The reason he keeps sending you the same codes is that they are the right ones. Your problem is not related to reg. issues. You have other problems. You need to give info on your computer, soundcard and etc. then someone will be able to help you. It sounds like your buffer settings could be set higher, but their are so many issues involved that, well who knows. You might also try posting your problem over at the fa-soft site discussion forum. There are a bunch of n-track lovers over there that can help. But don't forget to state your setup info.

Thanks. I'll post in FASOFT as well. My system is a Win 98 second edition operating system on a HP computer. My sound card is an audiophile 2496.

intel or amd processor, speed? How much CPU usage are you getting while n-track is running?

Version

It's also possible (i think) that the reg.codes are for an older(newer?) version. I have no clue. I also recently had a pc crash, I reinstalled and everything worked fine...So it might be the version thing. I dunno, just trying to help you :)
Cheers

Registration codes are NOT your problem.

If you have stuttering or skips during playback, your computer is not processing audio data fast enough. You need to do some tweaking to move the data faster.

Hopefully you have a fast hard drive. Having your audio data on a secondary, 7200rpm drive is even better.

There are guides around the web... www.tascam.com and http://www.recordingwebsite.com/articles.html and others have guides to setting up Windows to record properly... a standard PC is not optimised straight out-of-the-box.

(I only have a P2-450 and can work with over a dozen 24bit/44.1kHz tracks or 30 16-bit/44.1kHz tracks with NO problems.)
