Does anyone here modify their effects pedals to get the sound they want? If so can you tell me how
. This sounds like such a newbie question.

gemsbok said:go on ebay and look up mods for the tube screamer. it seems to be just changing out op amp chips. that will get you started.
Becasue everything that isn't made anymore is the reason new versions of products suck. (do you sense the sarcasm?)
(not to mention no one even wanted that crappy ass pedal until SRV played it.)

Its just the most visable part of the mod because a few caps and resistors all look the same, but that little opamp chip that went out of production (now there is a new version with a whole other discussion if its as good as the old one) so it must be the key to the sound, right?Becasue everything that isn't made anymore is the reason new versions of products suck. ...but back to mods....

about the TS 9, you think it is really that bad?

Outlaws said:I haven't used a TS is years. I liked it though. I just don't like the idea that people will pay $500+ for an original TS808 and will pay out the ass to mod a TS9 back to 808 specs. I mean, it is a nice pedal, but it ain't THAT nice.
If you are a collector, then whatever, owning an orignal might float your boat. If you are modding the TS9 back to 808 specs, great, it'll be a fun mod...just IMO you need to have another pedal in orginal format (TS9) to compare your mod to so you can really hear what happened.
IF you are paying for someone else to mod it.......I need to find out where you live so I can beg for spare change outsite your place because you are obviously a very generous person with your money.
Though I guess this is the time to mention 'boutique pedal builders. -Like the Landgraf Overdrive. This is possibly the most over-rated pedal in exsistance. Its a TS copy with a 3 way toggle between 2 different diode combinations and the middle position with no diodes at all.
WOW.
If anyone is gonna mod a pedal, that is the mod to do because paying $450 for that pedal (which doesn't at the least even have the collectablility of an original 808) is just a complete joke.
