Let me explain 1st.
I have limited good preamps and most of the time little or no isolation.
The idea here is to spare my preamps for drums, and not try to mic and isolate cabinets during drum tracking, and to just run one of these into the line in on a board and out to the multi-headphone box (and the bass into a DI into the board). DOes it sound good enough to get some drums recorded (and not irritating enough to distract the performance)? How is the channel switching between dirty and clean? Smooth and fast? Or delayed? Any good distortions?
No, I wont be recording the actual tone of this box. Thats where my Mesa comes in. :)
Whatcha think.. this is by far the best isolation scheme I can come up with, and I have access to an RP 100 for $60, a RP200 for $100. I'll buy em both if you guys think I should. I'd like the 200 just for the Whammy effect.
Peace!

I need some input, since I need to do this deal in a few hours if I'm a gonna....
Reckon I'd like some more of that potted meat, ummm-hmmm...

For me those things are not very good{YMMV}..I would think that there are better alternitives for layin' down scraches.. Pod ect...

Pods arent foot switchable though, are they? Its rather important for me to be able to switch between clean and dirty so everything sounds as close to normal as possible. Dont want to throw the drummer off, since he will be whats getting recorded at the time.
Any other suggestions then? I want something with a cab setting so it sounds a bit more realistic.

yes pods are switchable...and they do have cab settings..Good luck

I had a rp12 (the big daddy of it's day) And channel switching was delayed bad enough that you could not use it live when you needed to switch quickly in a song.
You could however get good enough sound to do what you are thinking of. I have never used a rp100 or 200 though.

Good luck:)

PS as far as your plan goes, it sounds like a good one. I have done much the same thing, but one question. Doesn't you amp have a preamp out that you could use to do this without having to buy one of these units?

The SansAmp TRI-A.C. It has three channels that are switchable with three foot switches. $149 The Digitech RP series doesn't even come close to matching the SansAmps for realism.

I'm sure the deal of the century hour has come and gone, but I'll chime in anyway...

ditto what Wide Awake side..... How's that for useful?

Seriously though, the advantage the sansamp stuff has is that they are actually useful for keeper tracks. Say you want to add a little fender semi-dirty to your awesome mesa boogie tracks... wham bam thank you ma'am...

The Behringer V-amp 2 comes with a footswitch, whereas the POD doesn't. Just fyi...

Ok, found a Sansamp GT2 for $79... is this a good deal? How does it sound direct? Anyone heard it? MF has them for $169, list for $195...
Think I might jump on it.
