I've got an older EV RE-20 that I've had for a little over 20 years. I keep it in its original steel case. Recently, I opened up the case and found that the foam around the mic in the case was moist with an oily residue. The mic seems to work okay, but if I gently shake it up and down, it feels like something is loose and moving up and down inside. Has anyone had any similar experience or any idea of what might be wrong?

No, I've never had the problem with my EV RE20..... however, I can tell you this...... never trust the foam in a case and always put your mic's in a plastic ziplock bag before putting them in any foam padded case so the mic doesn't touch the foam. In fact, if you have any other mic's in foam padded cases.... get them out of the cases and put them in plastic baggies..... and then put them back in their cases.
